New Orleans had been on my “bucket list” for years. Flights from the San Francisco Bay Area had always seemed high when I had checked before or there were weather events that discouraged us from going there. When Milton wanted to attend his Vaughn family reunion in Waco and invited me, we decided to make it another “road trip.” We flew into Dallas and spent a couple of days there before heading over to Waco for the reunion, After spending a few days in Waco, we drove on to Austin, then Houston and finally ended up in New Orleans. I was glad to see it but would never recommend anyone visiting anywhere in “The South” in the summertime. The heat was stifling. I really don’t know how people live in it. When I would ask, people would say, “we never go outside.” At one point in New Orleans, the temperature “index” with the humidity was 111 degrees!! I had never experienced that kind of heat before!
